Montravius Adams
Defensive Tackle
Dooley County High School
Vienna, GA
6’3 290 Lbs. (per Rivals.com)
Rivals: 5 star #2 position
Scout: 5 star #1 position
ESPN: 5 star #1 position
Other notable offers: Florida (scheduled visit), Clemson (scheduled visit), Alabama (scheduled visit), Georgia (scheduled visit), Auburn, Florida State, Texas A&M, UCLA, USC
2013 depth at defensive tackle: Herbert Moore (commit), Jarron Reed (commit), Issac Gross (So.), Woodrow Hamilton (So.), Bryon Bennett (Jr.), Carlton Martin (Jr.), Lavon Hooks (signed, Jr.)
Scouting report: Imagine Gross with a ton more weight, that’s how you can describe Adams’s first step off the snap. While he is nowhere close to the quality of technique that Gross possesses, he will get there with college coaching. Using his immense strength and deceptive quickness, Adams blows up the line of scrimmage instantaneously and he gets great depth into the backfield. Like most defensive tackle prospects out of high school, he is raw and uses his strength advantage over high school competition to produce. Due to his raw nature, he could be greatly helped by a redshirt year, but once he gets on the field by his second or third year, he will be a headline in the opposing team’s film room each and every week.
Likelihood of signing with Ole Miss: The frontrunners look like Auburn, Clemson, and Georgia right now. All three schools are close to home as both Auburn and Clemson are right near the Georgia border and all three have been defensive line factories lately. I wouldn’t discount Alabama, Florida, or Ole Miss, but all three have some work to do. My money is on Dabo and the Tigers, but Adams appears to be the most wide open top prospect available this year. 5 percent Ole Miss
*Editor’s Note: Adams is only this low on the list due to the low probability of his signing with Ole Miss. If his interest level were higher, then he would definitely be higher on this list.
