Scouting report: He’s the USP prospect that we have all been waiting for. For three years, it has been “Just wait for Connor”, and that time is here. He has the size to be an outside linebacker, with great height, weight, and a frame to get bigger. Short passes do not turn into big gains when he is around, his closing speed is remarkable. A great tackler, he can help on covering his zone and making the pop on the underneath receiver or coming up and clogging the run. A big, physical safety who can not only hit and hit often, he can also cover a lot of ground when the ball is in the air and catch interceptions. He’s a playmaker, that’s all there is to it.
Likelihood of signing with Ole Miss: While Georgia was in it early, the influx of defensive backs has likely eliminated them from contention. Conner said that he loved watching LSU growing up, but the interest on the Tiger side does not appear as strong. It seems to be down to Ole Miss, Alabama, and Mississippi State, and all three schools feel as though they have the best chance at landing him. High school teammate Deon Mix has been trying to take Conner with him to Starkville ever since he committed in June. His interest level in Alabama is high, and they are very much a threat to land his signature, but I believe that his Mississippi ties are too much for him to leave the state. South Panola kids typically end up in Oxford, and whether it is because he loves the town or because it is just right down the road, he is in Oxford a heck of a lot. This should be a Rebel victory here, Ole Miss at 70 percent.
