Scouting report: Treadwell has three things that are vital in a receiver: good hands in traffic, good jump off the line, and catching the ball at it’s highest point. He is not scared of footsteps and will go over the middle if he needs to. He does not think about the run after the catch until he makes the catch, a rarity in explosive receivers. He exhibits great burst off the line of scrimmage and gets open with ease. His routes are clean and he chops his feet extraordinarily well, helping him either beat his man over the top on a go route, or go out for an out route that has become popular in the spread. Going back to his ability to catch it in traffic, he does not wait for the ball nor does he need it to hit him in the chest. He will go up and get the ball over the defender with his long arms or he can catch the ball behind him. A kid like this will need the ball in his hands often, paired with a receiver like Moncrief could be lethal.

Likelihood of signing with Ole Miss: The early leader for Treadwell was Michigan, a team that was recently eliminated. Now it is a race between Ole Miss, Oklahoma, and Oklahoma State. He loved his visit to Oklahoma and was recently seen wearing an OU hat after a basketball game, something that stilled the hearts in the 662 area code. The problem with that trip is the absence of his mother, the same mother that loved Oxford and the Ole Miss coaching staff. While a guy like Treadwell will play, the Sooners signed six receivers last year, with five of those ranked as four stars or better by Rivals. There is a difference between a competition and a logjam, and it appears as though the Sooners have themselves a logjam.

Oklahoma State will get the other visit from Treadwell next month. His uncle played at Oklahoma State and it can’t be ignored that the Cowboys have turned out Dez Bryant and Justin Blackmon recently. The problems are that the coach who recruited him has now taken over at Southern Miss and Luke Del Rio has decommitted. Treadwell has stated that he wants a good quarterback in his signing class, something that OU has in Cody Thomas and Ole Miss has in Devante Kincade and Ryan Buchanan. OSU is by no means out, but they have work to do to catch up to the other two.

Ole Miss seems to be in the driver’s seat for Treadwell, and why wouldn’t they be? The student section at the Rutgers game attended by Treadwell and his host Denzel Nkemdiche, chanted his name. As a whole, the Ole Miss fanbase is enamored with him and his commitment may cause Oxford to erupt. His mother fell head-over -heels with the place when she visited. A former teammate and current work out partner Anthony Standifer, is a current Rebel defensive back. There will be an open competition for the No. 2 receiving spot next to Moncrief, a spot that he will have a very good shot of winning before the season starts. Freeze likes to throw the ball a lot, and with Moncrief drawing some early defensive attention from him, he’ll be able to put up some big numbers. He has tweeted his fondness for the recruiting victories by Freeze and expressed his desire to be a Rebel with Stacy Coley (when it was Ole Miss’s turn to be fooled by the fake account). This fit seems like the best one for Treadwell and the coaching staff, it is Ole Miss’s to lose, Rebels at 75 percent
