Chose Ole Miss over Alabama and Florida.

Buchanan also had offers from Arkansas, Auburn, North Carolina, and Oklahoma State among others.

Committed to Ole Miss on June 4, 2012.

Possible playing time in 2013: Junior Bo Wallace is obviously entrenched as the starter after throwing for almost 3000 yards and showing windows of miraculousness. It is no secret that he suffered from shoulder issues and while his surgery should alleviate those problems, but there is always the possibility that he aggravates the old injury. If that were the case, the ball will fall into senior Barry Brunetti’s hands. Buchanan and Devonte Kincade will likely receive redshirts that will not be burned unless it is an absolute necessity. He very well could be a three-year starter at Ole Miss down the road, but in 2013 he seems to be buried.

Wrap-up: Buchanan has everything that an SEC quarterback needs. His head is on straight in regards to confidence, reading the defense, and the ability to play out of any formation with comfort. Since he committed so early, he was able to bond with his future offensive linemen like Daronte Bouldin and Davion Johnson which is an underrated perk of committing over the summer. His body frame is ideal between height, weight, and athleticism. He can drop back and pass, run play action, throw on the run, or run a zone-read and be successful in each one. The sky is the limit for Buchanan and he has everything that a signal caller needs to play on Sundays, much less SEC Saturdays.
