Last week the Rebels had to prepare for the vaunted Vanderbilt defense. One that ranked as elite in pass defense and is highlighted by guys who’ll make money doing this next year on Sundays. It was a big test and Hugh Freeze’s club passed with flying red and blue colors. This week the Rebels will line up against the Redhawks of Southeast Missouri State.

Saturday marks the first Grove of the season. Women will unveil the their new expenditures, men will exhibit ostentatious outerwear and the oaks will overhang the festivities below. Bourbon will soak freshman buttonups, old friends will laugh at the old times, and the aromas of fried chicken, fried okra, fried everything will fill the air. The excitement will coat the humidity as the anticipation in Oxford is much like the phoenix.

The stands will fill, the gate will lock, Vaught will sway and the freshmen will get to experience the day they will look back on as “My first time in the tunnel.”
