Ole Hotty Toddy Rankings Week 5

Aug 30, 2013; Manhattan, KS, USA; North Dakota State Bison wide receiver Ryan Smith (4) runs by Kansas State Wildcats defensive end Alauna Finau (94) during the Bisons

Saturday was the terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day of football. Only two of my Top 25 teams lost and one of them was to another ranked team.

I again gave little respect to Michigan as they were again underwhelming, barely scraping by against lowly UConn. This isn’t a great team. It may not even be a very good team.

I know that dropping Michigan State from 18 to unranked is a little harsh. Only thing harsher is having to watch that offense.

Two teams jumped into the rankings this week for different reasons. As many who pick up on the subtext of my rankings know that I don’t think highly of Notre Dame’s team. I ranked them because well, who else? Plus they did manage to beat the Spartans who I was very disappointed in. The other team is North Dakota State because they’ve already defeated the defending Big 12 champion on the road and defeated their last two opponents by a combined 97 points. If an unranked FBS team actually earns it next week then I might bump them back down to Earth.
