No. 12 Ole Miss Rebels sweep SELA two-game series

Good morning Rebel Nation! What a nice way to start the morning, by talking about sweeps!

Wednesday night, the No. 12 Rebels improved to 16-2, by sweeping Southeastern Louisiana in a 8-3 win. This win marked another five game win streak on the season for the Rebels. Throughout the season, Ole Miss have consistently won games in dramatic “walk-off style” finishes. Yesterday, the Rebels did not have to do that to complete a two game series sweep against the Lions.

Cheyne Bickle (3-1) picked up the win after completing 2.0 innings, allowing only one hit, and had a strikeout. Evan Anderson was the first of five Rebel pitchers on the mound. He had a solid 3.0 innings, with no hits, three strikeouts, and faced only nine batters.

It was the offense that really won the game for the Rebels. Our hitters were able to muster up 16 total hits against the Lions.

The Rebels took a 4-3 lead going into the top of the ninth inning. In the inning, they were able to really pull the game out of reach for SELA. They were able to pickup four more runs off of four hits and three errors by the Lions. This brought the lead to 8-3, giving the Rebels a five run cushion heading into the bottom of the ninth, were Weathersby closed out the inning and held the Lions off the board, send the Rebels to victory.

This was the first road stretch for the diamond Rebels, since they opened the season in Stetson. Now, the Rebels will continue play on the road this weekend. This weekend marks the opening of SEC play! Yes, we are just as excited as you are, and what better way to open the conference play than to face the No. 1 team in the country. South Carolina is 15-0 and will be a tough test to see how good we really are.

We will be keeping updated with all of the latest, and there will be a series preview coming up.

More to come in Ole Miss sports later today…stay tuned.

Hotty Toddy!
