Good afternoon Rebel Nation and Hotty Toddy! We hope everyone stays safe through all of the severe weather that is moving across our homeland throughout the day. There is a lot of news that is circulating across the web involving the Southeastern Conference and Ole Miss. We are going to provide you with all that information here to get you caught up on the sports news surrounding Ole Miss and the SEC.

Headlines

The Southeastern Conference committee announced yesterday that the conference will be going under some changes to SEC schools’ schedules for the upcoming seasons. The SEC made the decision Sunday night to keep the SEC games at an eight game conference schedule as oppose to adding a possible ninth conference game. The SEC’s football teams will continue to play all six division opponents, one permanent crossover opponent and one rotating opponent from the opposite division.

However, in the coming years, the SEC schedules will see some changes coming to non-conference games. Beginning in 2016, all SEC schools have agreed to play at least one non-conference opponent from either the ACC, BIG TEN, Big-12, or PAC-12 conferences. This will take into affect in the intent to improve the strength of schedules for the upcoming NCAA Football Playoffs.

So, what does this mean for Ole Miss football? Well, you can pretty much say ‘goodbye’ to those non-conference games against Memphis, Troy, Tulane, Louisiana-Lafayette, etc., and say hello to the possibility of playing teams like Oregon, Penn State, Michigan, Ohio State, Florida State, Clemson, etc.

I personally love this decision. It does not make an SEC schedule any easier, so if your Brett Bielema and Arkansas, you maybe taking a cold shower in the fetal position over this announcement. But, this does give conference contenders the opportunity to prove even more that the SEC is the powerhouse conference of college football.

Ole Miss Baseball News

If you are an Ole Miss fan and your not getting excited about Ole Miss baseball, then you just need to take the next train ride out of here. The Rebels are coming off a very impressive weekend series sweep over (at the time) No. 17 Kentucky in Lexington.

It was as if the team was taking out their frustrations of the losses to LSU and Mississippi State out on the poor old Wildcats. The Rebels won game one of the series 12-4, 18-5 in game two, and 9-6 in game three. The big hitters Will Allen, Austin Anderson, Auston Bousfield, and Sikes Orvis all had a very impressive weekend.

The series sweep over Kentucky has also improved the Rebels in the latest college baseball rankings. The team finished in the latest Perfect Game and Baseball America polls at No. 11 out of the top-25 standings. This was a jump of a few rankings from the previous weeks in both polls. Even with the series sweep over Kentucky, Ole Miss dropped three rankings in the latest USA Today’s Coaches’ Poll to No. 16. So, WE ARE GOING TO REFER TO OURSELVES AS NO. 11 IN THE COUNTRY, thanks!

NBA unlikely to oust Donald Sterling as owner of Los Angeles Clippers – FanSided.com
If you missed it, Clippers’ owner Donald Sterling opened a ‘can of worms’ with a bash of racial comments caught on tape by TMZ over the weekend. This has lead to even sponsors like CarMax to opt out of their partnership with the team. However in this latest article, apparently these comments can not effect Donald Sterling’s ownership of the clippers. Who is his boss?… the fans.
