You better start Gator Chomping, because Florida could save our ass again.

A few days ago, Florida kept us in the National Seed mix when they beat South Carolina, and knocked the Gamecocks out (who were in a close race talk with the Ole Miss Rebels for a possible National Seed). Now, the Florida Gators could help the Rebels by winning the SEC Baseball Tournament Title. They are setup to play the LSU Tigers in the tournament final today.

In the Perfect Game’s latest college postseason update, Kendall Rogers has the Ole Miss Rebels outside of the top eight for the National Seeds, and LSU has snuck back in to round out the top eight. LSU has achieved this by there remarkable SEC Tournament performance. Whether you love them or hate them, you can not deny that LSU has been an amazing dominate force in the tournament. The Tigers are the only team to have not loss a game yet in the tournament. They have beat two teams so bad, that the games had to be called before the 9th inning, due to the ten run rule. They’re currently 29-4 versing opponents in the tournament. That is tough.

Florida has had to kick and claw their way to the SEC Tournament finale. The Gators loss to Kentucky (a team they’ve struggled with all season) in their first game of the tournament. They would then knock out South Carolina and Mississippi State to get to the semi-finals. They would then face Kentucky (again) on Saturday. It would be a back-and-forth matchup that had three lead changes after midway through the game. Florida is tired, but they’re arugably the best team in the country right now. But, there is no doubt the No. 1 RPI ranked team in the country will have their challenges with LSU come the championship game on Sunday.

So, according Rogers, it could come down to Florida beating LSU for the Rebels to have their shot at a National Seed. Rogers’ quoted in his article,”they’re still strongly in the mix for a national seed. As a matter of fact, if not the Tigers, the Rebels are my next choice. Ole Miss needs LSU to get knocked off in the SEC tournament finale”. Of course, these are predictions and the outcome of these predictions could be far from what the NCAA committee chooses as the top eight teams on Monday. Giving the Rebels’ odds, this is the closes to accuracy as you can get.

Rebel Nation, you need to be the best damn Florida Gator fan in the crowd right now. You better start Gator Chomping (if you need to, ask Marshall Henderson for tips). Show your support with a team shirt, and maybe some orange face paint. You better do the best damn prayer kneel, that Tim Tebow would look at you in jealousy. The point is, it could comedown to this. I know I am blabbering like the Rebels’ season is over if they do not obtain a National Seed, but that is far-fetched from my opinion. The Rebels can still have a successful NCAA Tournament, and if every thing falls their way and they advance, the team would have the possibility of hosting a Super-Regional.

They’re still strongly in the mix for a national seed. As a matter of fact, if not the Tigers, the Rebels are my next choice. Ole Miss needs LSU to get knocked off in the SEC tournament finale.

So, what does a National Seed give you? Basically, if advance to the Super-Regional, you are guaranteed to host that Super-Regional. Trust me, we want to stay at Swayze this postseason. The Rebels have only loss four games all year at home. Compared to a 15-7 away and 1-4 neutral site record this season, the advantage would definitely be in favor of the Ole Miss Rebels with a host bid.

Monday, ESPNU will broadcast live coverage of the NCAA Division – I Baseball Tournament Selection Show, starting 11 a.m. CST. Where do you think the Rebels’ will whined up the selection?
