Ole Hotty Toddy Podcast – Episode #1

As we covered yesterday, the Ole Miss Rebels landed their sixth regional host in program history. Today, the NCAA committee announced the full 64 teams to enter the NCAA Tournament, including the elite eight National Seed teams.

As we had expected, the Rebels fell short of landing a National Seed. LSU was able to sneak in and obtain the final seed over Ole Miss due to their sensational performance Hoover. A lot of debate is going around, that had Ole Miss picked the win over Arkansas in Game 13 of the SEC Tournament, they may have picked up that final spot. Here is the complete list of the National Seed Teams.

1. Florida
2. Oregon State
3. Virginia Tech
4. Indiana
5. Florida State
6. Louisiana-Lafayette
7. TCU
8. LSU

The Rebels will know host the Oxford Regional and the four teams in the regional have been set. Here is the Oxford Regional setup.

1. Ole Miss
2. Jacksonville State
3. Georgia Tech
4. Washington

Most Rebel fans are not really thrilled to have Jacksonville State, Georgia Tech, and Washington in the same regional. It’s not going to be easy, but hey, at least we are hosting the regional. It was a very close call between Washington and Ole Miss to either one hosting the regional, so be thankful Rebel fans.

We will be posting a more in depth article coming up about the preview of the Oxford Regional and how things could pan out for the Rebels. Today, we spent most of our afternoon on the airwaves, covering all of the NCAA selections for the 2014 tournament.

We have put together our first official podcast for the site. We were thrilled to kick things off covering the preview to the 2014 NCAA Baseball Tournament.

Myself, Evelyn Griffin of HottyToddy.com, and Acey Roberts (Senior Staff Writer of OHT) hosted today’s podcast. We had a very powerful baseball lineup for guests in the show that you will enjoy.

Josh Cooke of CollegeBaseballDaily.com joined in as our first guest. Josh is a staff writer and covers much of the Southeast region for the site. Listen to Josh as he breaks down the Regionals and National Seeds for us. He also shares with us how close of a call it was between LSU and Ole Miss for the National Seed spot.

Our next guest on the show was Bob Lynch (The Ghost of Jay Cutler) from RedCupRebellion.com. Bob covered a more in depth look at Ole Miss baseball with us. Hear what he had to say on the controversial loss to Arkansas and how this Ole Miss team is compared to the ’05, ’06, and ’09 teams. Bob also added what it would mean for the state if Mississippi State and Ole Miss possibly meets in a Super-Regional match-up.
