facebooktwitterreddit

Keith Lewis has been a valuable part of the line-backing core for the last three years. He has started many games but his main role has been providing quality depth at all positions. He has the strength to play middle linebacker and the frame and speed to play on the weak side of the field.

WHERE’S HE FROM

Keith is from Tampa Florida, a Super Prep and Prep Star All-Region pick, rated the no. 35 player in Florida by SuperPrep. Ranked the no. 47 outside linebacker in the nation by Scout.com.

CAREER HIGHLIGHTS

  • 10/19/11              Started his first game against Auburn
  • 9/15/12                Recorded five tackles versus Texas
  • 10/27/12              Posted four tackles against Arkansas and 0.5 tackles for loss
  • 10/12/13              Made 3 tackles against Texas A&M with 1 TFL and an interception
  • 10/19/13              Four tackles (three solo) and a QB hurry over LSU

 2014 EXPECTATIONS

In 2013, Lewis backed up Mike Marry at Middle but now in 2014 he can focus on the outside and should start in the first game against Boise State in Atlanta. In Spring, Lewis has shown his normal solid and dependable play and will start at strong-side linebacker when the team goes three wide, and will be able to back up DT Shackelford at the middle position when needed.

The line-backing corp has a chance to be one the best in the nation in 2014. Phil Steele, one of the best known college football experts in the nation predicts Ole Miss’ linebackers as third best this year.

If Ole Miss lives up to that high praise, it will be because guys like Keith Lewis step up their game even more in 2014.
