The 2014 Ole Miss football season is just around the corner. Now that we have hit the 45 day mark until kickoff, we are going to countdown the most valuable Rebel players this season. Their rankings are based on their positions and how much of an impact they will bring to the table. Today on the countdown is…

2013 Season: Keith Lewis played a significant role in the Ole Miss defense last season. Lewis played in every game with one start at stinger/linebacker. Keith Lewis finished with 23 total tackles, (15 solo), 3.0 tackles for a loss, an interception, a pass breakup, and two quarterback hurries on the season. Some of Lewis’ highlights came in the games against Texas A&M, LSU, Idaho, and Mississippi State. In the game against the Aggies, Keith Lewis recorded three tackles (two solo) with a tackle for a loss and his first career interception that he returned for 8 yards. Against LSU, Lewis posted four tackles (three solo) and a quarterback hurry. Against Idaho, he posted six total tackles and a tackle for a loss, starting in the game at linebacker. Against Mississippi State, Lewis posted two tackles, a pass breakup, and a quarterback hurry.

The Value: If there is anything we have learned about Keith Lewis’ career at Ole Miss is that there has been progression every year. In fact, each year has been better than the previous for Keith Lewis. I like Lewis. He is a grinder and has great size for his position at linebacker. He is expected to once again rotate out with Denzel Nkemdiche at backup outside linebacker to Serderius Bryant. In my opinion, due to his results from last season, I can see Keith Lewis having a breakthrough senior year. I could actually see him winning the backup role to Serderius Bryant over Denzel Nkemdiche.
