The favorite son of Ole Miss, also the man behind the hiring of head football coach Hugh Freeze, has spoken in regards to the recent NCAA allegations. Archie Manning, a Drew, MS native, told Parrish Alford of the NE Miss Daily Journal he knows the integrity of Freeze in an article today.

"“There is always jealousy involved when you have such success. People say, ‘You’re doing this, doing that.’ You almost say it comes with the territory,” Manning told Alford."

David Brandt, of the Associated Press, reported this week, linked here, the NCAA alleged 28 violations occurred at Ole Miss, with 13 involving football. Nine of 13 alleged violations would fall under the time frame with Freeze as its head coach.

"“We can (recruit) because we’ve got a great head coach who’s a good recruiter,” Manning said. “And he’s got a staff that feeds off each other. Their concept is selling Ole Miss, selling the program and maybe doing something a little different than what everybody else has been doing,” Manning added."

Ole Miss has shocked the college football world, playing in back-to-back access bowls and finishing each of the last three recruiting seasons in the Top-10 of many of the major recruiting services.

"“That type of improvement doesn’t come without backlash,” Manning concluded."
