Ole Miss football picked up their third commitment in four days today with Oxford High School CB Devin Rockette announcing commitment.

Devin Rockette has yearned for an Ole Miss football scholarship offer his whole life. Rockette, who has no other D1 offers, was offered by the Rebels on June 8th. Even though it was his dream offer, Rockette took his time before making a decision.

Rockette attended a camp at Mississippi State this past weekend, where he reportedly ran a 4.40 40 yard dash. Rockette was offered his scholarship after the ran a 4.38 40-yard dash in Oxford.

Rockette is a speedy cover corner who moves his hips very well and can switch his direction with ease. He faced some of the best competition in the state of Mississippi, including Ole Miss wide receiver AJ Brown.

Rockette is a high ceiling, low floor kind of player. A guy who could become a starter in a few years with some work in the weight room and on the field, or someone who never contributes in a positive way.

Looking at his stats and his tape, I think Rockette can work his way into the depth chart at Ole Miss in a few years, especially on special teams. His speed and swiftness will earn him playing time early on.

If Rockette can add a few pounds to his 5’11” 190 frame, he could become a menace on defense. His speed combined with some power would be reminiscent of Ole Miss great Cody Prewitt. The Rebels hope to get that kind of potential out of Rockette.
