Chucky Mullins suffered a tragic injury in 1989 during a game against Vanderbilt. Brad Gaines, a wide receiver for the Commodores, was hit by Mullins. The hit instantly paralyzed Mullins.

The play was one that lives in infamy. The play was a result of a football play. There was no malice by either party. Gaines still feels guilt over the incident to this day.

Mullins is honored by the Rebels every year by awarding a senior defender with the honor of wearing Mullins number, 38. In the past the award has been given to Mike Hilton, Mike Marry, DT Shackelford, and now John Youngblood.

The Franklin County Times reports that a New York based movie company has been working a film to be released in fall 2017. The film is currently titled “It’s Time.”

"“This is a movie about football, but it’s really a love story,” research assistant Dylan Fowler told the Franklin County Times. “Chucky’s love for Russellville, Chucky’s love for football, Russellville’s love for Chucky, Ole Miss’ love for Chucky. There’s all of this love, and then Brad and Chucky end up becoming really close, so there’s their love for each other, their friendship. Even though there’s a tragic ending, it really is a feel-good movie because he left such an impression, and he came from nothing.”"

The SEC Network released a documentary on Mullins a few years ago, also titled “It’s Time.”

Rebel fans everywhere should plan to attend this film.
