Markell Pack suffered a tendon injury in his hand and could be out awhile. What does this mean for the Rebels?

The first fall camp injury for Ole Miss appears to be junior WR Markell Pack. According to Ben Garrett of the Ole Miss Spirit, he suffered a tendon injury in his hand.

There is a cause for concern for Ole Miss. Pack was one of three players competing for the punt returning position according to the preseason depth chart. As many of you know, punt returning has been a cause for concern in recent years for Ole Miss.

If there is a reason to rest easy about the Pack injury, it is the fact the Rebels have plenty of depth at the wide receiver position. According to the depth chart, Pack was listed as the second-team slot receiver, behind redshirt freshman Van Jefferson. The slot receiver is kind of a loose position in Ole Miss’ scheme as senior tight end Evan Engram plays in more of a slot receiver role than a true tight end.

It is never good to get word of an injury during fall camp or at any time in the season for that matter, but if any position group can absorb it for the Rebels this season it is wide receiver.
