Coach Hugh Freeze was seen at a high school football game before the September 1st evaluation period began. He was there to see his daughter perform as a cheerleader but his choice of garb is under fire.

They say “it’s the clothes that make the man”. Even when you are just going out to support your family at a sporting event, your dress must be on point. It appears Coach Hugh Freeze did not get the memo. So I want to once again thank our brethren in the Bulldog community for keeping an eye on us. Thank you for ignoring your own program in order to watch us.

I used to think Mississippi State fans and media had an unhealthy obsession with all things Ole Miss. You have to admit, it always seemed that their twitter accounts, podcasts, and potential books always center around the Rebels. That every other word out of their mouth was, “blah, blah, blah TSUN.” “Blah, blah, blah sanctions.” “Blah, blah, blah bowl ban.” It was as if they could not stop thinking about Ole Miss. It was like we were living rent free in their head. But I was wrong. They are not obsessed with us, they are concerned about us.

They are so concerned with Ole Miss and Coach Hugh Freeze, they’ve begun to watch what he wears while attending games in which his daughter is cheerleading. They are worried about how his dress may send the wrong message. They don’t want him to get into any trouble. Thank you for caring so much.

You see, what you don’t realize is that Mississippi State is the considered the industry standard in sideline attire. They are the Vera Wang of the SEC. How else do you explain Coach Dan Mullen being able to pull off the short pants look on the sideline during the South Alabama game? You don’t do that unless you are fashion forward.

You don’t do that unless you are fashion forward.

Hugh Freeze showed up to the game not dressed the way the State fans thought he should dress. It may have been a simple case of not having the fashion sense that Bulldog nation has. So we are going to give Freeze a few dressing tips that even the discerning Clanga would approve of. Try wearing one these outfits the next time you want to support your child.

Three Piece Suit

Ah, nothing beats the Sunday morning classic. Plus since they mock Freeze for his expressing his Christian faith, he might as well dress like a proper Baptist preacher. How proud would his daughter be if he were to show up on the sideline dressed in a wool three-piece suit?

She’d be able to say to her friends, “You see that guy dripping wet with sweat? That’s my dad.”

I suggest you go with black. Can’t dress in blue because some would consider that a recruiting advantage. You can’t wear white because of the chance you may look like a Colonel. Whether it be Reb or Sanders, it’s not worth the controversy.

Khakis

The Gap stayed in business in the 90’s because khakis were cool. Now they are cool only if you work in the tech department of a company. But khakis are always safe. Khakis don’t offend anyone. They are the bologna sandwich of fashion, bland and simple but it meets the requirement.

The drawback to khakis is that Coach Freeze’s behavior may begin to imitate Jim Harbaugh. He’ll start being highly obnoxious and a pain to be around, but at least he will be compliant with the Clanga Rules of Dress. Plus, if Jake from State Farm can pull it off, so can Freeze.

Mississippi State T-Shirt

This is the winner. Nothing says, “I am completely NCAA compliant” than a big maroon colored Mississippi State t-shirt. That shirt tells all those around you that you are a man who knows how to follow the rules. Plus they come in many different styles. But since Coach Freeze is a Christian, he may have to be asked for the “edited” version.

However, dressing like a Mississippi Stater comes with several draw-backs. There is nothing that repels potential star recruits than a coach with a Mississippi State shirt. Also, Coach Freeze would have to spend the rest of the night sending himself highly offensive and inappropriate tweets.

So, Coach Freeze seek out your local haberdashery and buy yourself a new wardrobe. However, coach, this is completely worth it. You will not only be able to act like a normal parent and support your daughter, but you can keep all of those Bulldog fans happy. Remember, they only criticize because they care.
