Shea Patterson may be getting all of the love this week from the media and fans alike, but Gary Wunderlich has a lot to say about the victory in College Station.

Without Wunderlich’s three critical field goals, the Rebels lose to the Aggies, no matter what Patterson did.

Wunderlich also hit the game-winning field goal in the waning seconds of the victory.

Patterson was named the SEC freshman of the week, while Wunderlich is the SEC special teams player of the week.

Here is what the SEC had to say about the awards for both players.

Patterson:

  • Shattered records and led a fourth-quarter comeback win in his debut for Ole Miss at eighth-ranked Texas A&M.
  • Trailing by 15 in the 4th quarter, Patterson tossed a pair of touchdowns and set up the game-winning field goal with 37 seconds left.
  • Set Rebel records for passing yards (338) and total yards (402) in a single game by a freshman.
  • Completed 25 of 42 passes and rushed for 64 yards on 15 attempts.

Wunderlich:

  • Nailed three field goals including the game-winning 39-yarder with 37 seconds left to lift Ole Miss at eighth-ranked Texas A&M.
  • Also connected on FGs of 25 and 24 yards while making two PATs.
  • Punted four times for a 40.5-yard average, including a 47-yarder.
  • Moved into third place in school history in career points scored (252) and third on the career FGs made list (44).

Both players look to lead the Rebels to victory over the Vanderbilt Commodores on Saturday.
