Ole Miss travels to Blacksburg, Virginia on Sunday to face Virginia Tech in a SEC/ACC showdown. We preview the game with James Gravley of Fighting Gobbler.

How has Buzz Williams improved the Virginia Tech program in the short time he has been head coach?

Buzz has done a terrific job managing the players and bringing his own recipe into Virginia Tech basketball. You also have to look at his takent, these guys have now been playing together for some time. What Williams has done though has been terrific and the fans are excited about Hokies basketball.

The Hokies have gotten some big wins already (most notably Michigan and Nebraska), how would a win over Ole Miss help them to get to the NCAA Tournament?

A win over a very talented Ole Miss team at home, would add to their resume. Especially when it comes to tournaments. A win over the Rebels should solidify a spot in the Top 25 for Tech. This is also a huge game for the Rebels. They look to be 7-2 at the end of the game and with two big men out for the Hokies, they can take advantage of the lack of size in the paint. If the Rebels get this win, it could potentially lift them into the NCAA Tournament

How do the Hokies stack up against the big boys of the ACC (Duke, UNC, UVA) this season?

Tech still needs to work on getting batter in the paint. You look at the teams like Louisville, Duke, UNC – they all have big men. Tech doesn’t have any big men really on their roster so they get outsized a lot on some of their games. If Williams and his staff can get more recruits to come in that are big boys, to get second chance points and rebounds, don’t be surprised to see Tech become a serious threat.

What is your prediction on the game?

Tech wins in a close one. 78-75.
