Ole Miss recruiting gained a big time commitment today as linebacker Breon Dixon picks Ole Miss over Louisville.

Ole Miss recruiting has needed a boost for the past few months. After losing out on CJ Avery and Cam Akers, Rebel fans were looking for some good news.

Well, on Sunday they got it.

On New Years Day, 4-star linebacker Breon Dixon announced his commitment to Ole Miss over Louisville.

He made the announcement at the halftime of the Under Armour All-American bowl.

ICYMI: Four running backs Ole Miss needs to target in 2017

The Rebels have obviously placed a target on recruiting linebackers in this class after the pitiful performance from the group in 2016.

Newly hired linebacker coach Bradley Dale Paveto will get a chance to work with Dixon and 3-star LB Josh Clarke next year.

Dixon visited Oxford on November 26th, 2016 for the Egg Bowl.

Once thought to be a lock for Ole Miss, Dixon added some drama to his recruitment late as rumors that he would commit to Louisville began to leak out.

Dixon will work under Paveto and newly hired defensive coordinator Wesley McGriff.

Rebel fans might recognize Dixon’s high school uniform. He played at Grayson HS, the same high school that Robert and Denzel Nkemdiche played at.

Ole Miss has developed a nice pipeline to Grayson High and it is paying off.

Dixon will look to find some early playing time in McGriff’s 4-3 defense this year. He will most likely line up next to Detric Bing-Dukes and Demarquis Gates early on in the season.

Ole Miss opens the 2017 season with the Grove Bowl on April 8th.
