Well, the new collegiate softball RPIs are out and Ole Miss softball is getting a little less love than they truly deserve at #19. The Rebels (30-13, 6-9) are coming off a huge sweep of the then #11 LSU. They deserve a higher ranking in my opinion. However, that will come in good time.

With the Florida Gators on the menu this coming weekend, Ole Miss softball stock could rise even higher pretty quick. The Gators garnered the #1 spot in this weeks poll, jumping from #3, after a week of winning. According to collegesportsmadness.com, Florida went 4-1 with wins over Georgia, FSU, and taking 2 of 3 and the series at Kentucky.

The Rebel softball team will be on the road against the Gators, and this will be their toughest test yet. However, this Rebel team is on fire right now. Remember, they fell short at the slightest of margins at Auburn only to come back with wins over their midweek contest, Memphis with a shut-out, and then a sweep of #11 LSU.

This Ole Miss softball team is ready for a tough road stretch which begins at UT-Martin Tuesday night at 5:30pm CT. Of course, the Rebels are on a 4-game winning streak entering the contest. However, one can see where they may be looking ahead to this coming weekend and the #1 Gators.

What Lies Ahead

More from Ole Miss Softball

Before Ole Miss makes their way to Gainesville, they have a midweek trip to UT-Martin. The Skyhawks come into the match-up with an overall record of (30-13) after taking a series from Eastern Illinois.

I could be wrong, but I expect head coach Mike Smith to keep the focus squarely on the Skyhawks for the time being.I believe Ole Miss softball fans can expect a heavy dose of Kaitlin Lee (2.07) in the circle on defense.

She has an arm and I expect Smith to let her loose as the SEC schedule’s toughest foe is waiting. If Lee is on, and oh yeah, she is on, expect the Rebels to find success in Swamp-ville.

Also, according to OleMissSports.com, Elantra Cox, is tied for the longest hitting streak in Ole Miss softball history at 13 games. Cox is hitting an incredible

This team is legit and we find out just how legit they are beginning Wednesday evening. First pitch from Martin, Tennessee will be at 5pm CT.

Expect some more sturdy defense as Ole Miss dominates. Skip’s score: OM 6 UTM 1
