Hugh Freeze and Ole MIss football recruiting landed another commit this afternoon. With the verbal from Allen Love from Huffman High School-Magnet in Birmingham, Alabama this gives the Rebels seven commits in 2018 class.

For Ole Miss fans it has been quite a week with the University of Mississippi’s response to the NCAA NOA. The contents within the response are exciting, however the real excitement lands squarely on the recruiting trail. Is the response responsible for the sudden boom in recruiting? Possibly.

However, take into consideration, we have one of the best recruiters in the nation in coach Hugh Freeze. Also take into consideration, there has been a camp taking place in Oxford. Coach Freeze has had an opportunity to see some athletes up close and personal and this has its advantages.

How has it paid off? It’s paid off in the form of almost 600 lbs of defensive line within the past four days. This is literally and figuratively HUGE! These two commitments represent the future of the resurgence of the Landshark defense.

The latest commitment came earlier today with a verbal from Allen Love of Birmingham, AL. Love is the second Alabama commit and the fourth DT in the 2018 recruiting class.

This is Allen Love

Love is another beast for Freeze and Co. on the recruiting front. Also, Love was the second steal in a week from the backyards of Bama and Auburn.

Out of Huffman HS-M in Birmingham, Love is a scrapper at the DT position  and is just another piece in Freddie Roach’s plan for a dominant defensive front.

At 6’2″ and 287 lbs Allen Love is another great get for Ole Miss. Love is ranked as the No.6 DT out of the state and ranked in the top 100 defensive tackles in the nation.

Of course, Love is a big man. Most defensive tackles are. However, most can’t dominate a line of scrimmage the way Love can.

Love is strong and that strength allows him to shed blocks. He uses his hands and has agility. Honestly speaking, when was the last time you saw a DT use a really good spin move? Can’t remember? Watch Allen Love’s highlights and you’ll see one to remember for sure. Allen Love is legit and will be a great DT within the OM defense.

Recruiting Stands Solid

Regardless of what is being said in sports media or social media, Ole Miss football recruiting is exceeding expectations. Sure, it isn’t easy to recruit at Ole MIss to begin with. We have the smallest enrollment of any school in the SEC. Add to that the looming cloud of the NCAA and it is really difficult to recruit. However, to get two huge recruits in four days from a neighboring state is exceptional.

For right now recruiting is really really good. I expect recruiting to get even better as we move forward away from the response. Coach Hugh Freeze and company are hard at work to get the best possible players in Oxford and so far they are dead on. Good job Hugh Freeze and Freddie Roach and welcome to Ole Miss Allen!
