The University of Mississippi’s response has revealed a lot for Ole Miss football faithful within the past week. Of course, rumors are swirling. Some have merit. Apparently there is a rumor which places Miss State head football coach Dan Mullen front and center.

To what extent will a college football team go to achieve success over their rival? Well Ole Miss football fans, apparently now we have seen it all. Forget the fact that they would even accuse us of cheating with their own shady NCAA past. No, this goes way beyond a utility bill and loaner cars. This is tantamount of orchestrating the interference of an official NCAA investigation.

Yes, this is serious for ‘little brother U’ and they know it. This is a case most Miss State fans would wish go away at this point. The irony of it is it all began with a deep-rooted disdain for ‘Anything, Everything Ole Miss!’ Pun intended. Please visit Rebel Rags for all your favorite Ole Miss Rebel merchandise! HA.

Anyway, this NCAA case was destined for asterisk from the very start. It hasn’t become any clearer than the fact the NCAA fumbled on the one and MSU pulled a Leon Lett. Score Ole Miss. And MSU players did it twice. Talk about rumblin’ and tumblin’. If there is anything which could be more embarrassing than the Egg Bowl record for MSU then this has to be it.

Let’s begin with what we know. Let’s begin with the facts. Oh and in this NCAA investigation, the facts are something our beloved rival seems to have a problem with.

The Facts

With the UofM response to the NOA last tuesday, this case became an instant classic. One thing is certain, it shows there were biased investigators who either disregarded official statements or did no interviews at all.

Also, it proves there indeed were players who received immunity for their ‘truthful’ testimony. This is one area which remains shady for MSU. The official Ole Miss response states there were contradictions and outright falsifications.

Apparently SA-39 can’t get his story straight, not even 2 out of 3 times and SA-40 is just plain out lying. Also stated within the response is the fact that an interview was requested by OM with SA-39. Of course, this was after the University of Mississippi had been barred from one official interview. So much for transparency. The request was denied by MSU and also by MSU head coach Dan Mullen.

At the very least, MSU and Cousin Eddie played a part in impeding an official NCAA investigation. Of course, there is more. There is always more to the story.

Where There’s Smoke

In the past 4+ years Ole Miss football fans have endured a lot of rumors. Some of the most vile imaginable. Of course, some of what we heard from TSBU turned out to be true. Well, where there is smoke there is always some fire. Within this investigation we have already seen what a little smoke leads to.

Supposedly, there is a lot more fire within this case. Of course, any rumors should be taken with a grain of salt. However, we still have that daunting question. Would MSU and their staff go to such lengths to gain ground in an insurmountable rivalry? Oh yeah and you know it.

In this case, we know that Dan Mullen denied an interview request with Leo Lewis. But why? Well, rumor has it there is evidence which points to a high-level booster within the MSU football program. Apparently, Mullen was instructed by said donor to keep Lewis from being interviewed. I guess the MSU donor had figured out what he was working with and wanted to eliminate Lewis from giving more erroneous testimony.

Cmon folks! We already know Leo took the money and we know he went to the highest bidder. There are some obvious questions which the NCAA and the SEC front office need to answer. Answers are buried deep in Starkvegas for now. However, still there are questions.

Seeking Answers

We all have questions and we all seek answers. However, even some pups have contended they want to know the truth about their own team’s involvement in the investigation. So where does the NCAA sink their claws in the mutts? Leo, Kobe or Cousin Eddie? Or all of the above? Oh by all means all of the above. However, I believe if the NCAA looks in the direction of the mass exodus of coaches from MSU after Dak Prescott left, there they’ll find an answer. Why would all those coaches leave a promising SEC program?

Simply put, they wouldn’t. However, no aspiring assistant coach wants to be associated with a head coach who is meddling in an NCAA investigation. Those kind of things have a tendency to follow a coach and no coach wants to be caught under that cloud of uncertainty.

My guess is if the NCAA offers some former MSU coaches immunity we will begin to get real answers and uncover the real truth. Then we will know just how far Cousin Eddie will go to take down his counterpart.
