The Ole Miss 2016 football season was a disappointment. However, there appears to be a resurgence in the air among the team.

After years of success on the football field, watching the Ole Miss Rebels struggle last year was disheartening. It was difficult watching our players go through this tough period. However, now that the smoke of 2016 has passed the team has focused on a resurgence.

The 2017 season is coming up in a couple of months starting with a game against the University of Southern Alabama. It appears that the Rebels are ready for it to begin. All they have heard over the past few months were accusations and NCAA mumbo-jumbo.

Therefore, the team is itching to get back on the field. They can feel the talent on this team and the things this team can accomplish. The resurgence is real. Ole Miss is loaded with young talent, especially on the offensive side of the ball.

The fans are excitedly waiting to see the combinations of A.J. Brown, D.K. Metcalf and Van Jefferson at wide receiver. When you combine them with the talented receivers that come in off the bench, the Rebels have the most talented pass catchers in the SEC.

However, the resurgence starts behind the center. Shea Patterson has the potential to be one of the best quarterbacks in recent memory. He appears to be all in. Patterson spent time honing his skills at the Manning Passing Academy.

The resurgence is also felt on the defensive side of the ball. Coach Wesley McGriff has refocused the defense on playing aggressive defense. There is a hope that we will see our patented Landshark defense back on the field.

Our defense was porous last year. The Rebels could not hold a lead. Just holding on to one lead would have made us bowl eligible. The defense won’t be completely back but it should be improved. However, look forward to seeing some of the old-fashioned aggression.

Be prepared for the resurgence. The Ole Miss Rebels seem to be ready for the 2017 football season. Are you ready?
