Coach Kermit Davis and the Rebels will be hunting another SEC win Saturday as they travel to face the Georgia Bulldogs in Athens.

After a 75-71 midweek win over Texas A&M in Oxford the Rebels are back in action Saturday as they travel to take on the Georgia Bulldogs (10-12, 1-8). After breaking the Rebels four-game losing streak over the Aggies coach Kermit Davis and Ole Miss basketball (15-7, 5-4) will be hunting another SEC win on the road.

The Bulldogs welcome the Rebels as they are coming off a 15 point loss to Alabama this week. While we look at the Bulldogs record and it’s easy to see another Rebels win Georgia is another team in the SEC which is very talented and well coached. The Bulldogs like every other SEC team has their share of key players.

Bulldogs Key Players

Sophomore forward Rayshaun Hammonds leads UGA in scoring averaging 12.9 points per game. Hammonds also averages 6.6 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game.

Junior guard Jordan Harris leads the Bulldogs in 3-point field goal percentage hitting 41.7% of his shots from beyond the arc. Harris averages 5.2 points and 2.9 rebounds per game.

Sophomore forward Nicolas Claxton leads UGA in rebounds averaging 9.3 boards per game. Claxton also leads the Bulldogs in assists with 2.1, blocks with 2.7 and steals with1.3 per game. Claxton averages 12.6 points per game.

Besides these three key players there are others who can always have huge games and contribute greatly. Georgia also does have production from their bench players which are all very capable of having big scoring games.

Observations

Much like the midweek opposition from Texas A&M this won’t be an easy game for coach Kermit Davis and the Rebels despite Georgia’s overall record. We all know the SEC road is never an easy place to play and even harder to find wins.

The Rebels can win this game but they have to play fundamentally sound basketball in order to do so. The Rebels have to continue to play aggressive defense, force turnovers and make points off the turnovers they create. We also know from experience the Rebels have to cut down on their own turnovers which have led to several losses.
