After a great 2018-2019 Ole Miss basketball season we know coach Kermit Davis is hitting the recruiting road hard to help build a better team.

While coach Kermit Davis and Ole Miss basketball had a far better season than most college basketball pundits predicted the season didn’t end the way Rebels fans would have liked. Davis and the Rebels hit the 20 win mark and made the 2019 NCAA Tourney field of 64 teams as a No.8 seed but played just one game before returning to Oxford.

Still it was a great season for a first-year head and a relatively young Rebel team and Kermit Davis did a tremendous job. The future is bright for the Ole Miss basketball program but we all know Davis and the Rebels still have work to do to get to where we all want to be. Naturally, losing players to graduation means coach Kerm will be busy on the recruiting trail.

The 2018-2019 Ole Miss basketball season saw three seniors on the roster. With graduation the Rebels are losing two starters which will have to be replaced. The 2018 recruiting class which was coach Kerm’s first class in Oxford Rebels fans saw what Davis was able to do to pull a good class into Oxford. We all know Kermit Davis is a great recruiter and we can expect the 2019 class to be even better.

Like college football there is an early signing period for college basketball which was November 14th and a regular signing period which will be coming up on April 17th. NSD is just around the corner and we can expect coach Davis to close out what is already a very good class. In November Davis had four players ink with the Rebels and OHT takes a look at each player.

The 2019 Rebels Class

Currently the 2019 Ole Miss basketball recruiting class stands at four signees. At the top of the list is 3* Center Rodney Howard of Greenville, South Carolina. Out of Legacy Charter High School Howard is listed at 6’10 and 230lbs and has a 247Sports Composite of 0.8926. Howard is rated as the No.4 player in South Carolina.

Next on the list is 3* Small Forward Antavion Collum of Tennessee Prep in Memphis. Collum is listed at 6’7 and 215lbs and has a 247Sports Composite of 0.8894 and is rated as the No.6 player in Tennessee.

Rounding out the current 2019 class is 2* Shooting Guard Bryce Williams of Bushnell, Florida. Out of Daytona State College Williams is listed at 6’3 and 180lbs. Williams has a 247Sports Composite of 0.7778 and is rated as the No.6 player in Florida.

Next Up?

We can expect a couple more additions to the 2019 Ole Miss basketball recruiting class on April 17th. According to 247Sports Davis may have to do some roster shuffling to make room for what he hopes to be some late additions which could add some age to a young team. From what we gather that means searching the JUCO ranks and grad transfer possibilities.

When we look at the offers Ole Miss basketball currently has out we see a couple of players who could make the jump to become Rebels later this month. Small Forward Javon Franklin of Holmes Community College is listed at 6’7 and 200lbs and also has offers from Auburn, Arkansas, Memphis and East Carolina.

Power Forward Khadim Sy out of Daytona State College is listed at 6’10 and 240lbs and according to Ben Garrett of OMSpirit is the number one priority for Davis and his staff as we draw closer to National Signing Day. Sy also holds offers from LSU, East Carolina, Pittsburgh and Auburn.

So as April 17th draws closer we can expect the 2019 Ole Miss basketball recruiting class to get bigger in the coming days. While we can’t be too sure of the who and the when we do know it will happen and Rebels fans are ready to see who we get. Good luck to coach Kermit Davis and the Rebels as NSD draws near. Hotty Toddy!
