After being left out in the cold by the Combine, Ole Miss safety Gushiken put his NFL potential on full display at Ole Miss Pro Day. Now, he has two AFC rivals lined up for official-30 visits.
Gushiken's talent was severely overlooked, and he made sure to make changes before the NFL Draft with a 40-yard dash in 4.35 seconds. That number alone has put him on the radar of multiple offenses in desperate need of a safety, especially in teams where he can be a perfect fit.
2 NFL heavyweights schedule Top 30 visit with Kapena Gushiken
The Cincinnati Bengals have scheduled a Top-30 visit with Gushiken.
The Bengals already went all out and signed one of the top free agent safeties in former Kansas City Chiefs safety Bryan Cook, but that didn't stop Al Golden from wanting other safeties before the Draft Day.
Golden spent the second half of the 2025 season simplifying the Bengals' defense to play faster and more aggressively. Gushiken's measurements and
4.35 speed makes him exactly the type of versatile safety Golden would want on his defense.
The more fascinating Top-30 visit for Gushiken is with Indianapolis Colts. Indy is undergoing a major defensive shift right now with Lou Anarumo taking over the DC reins.
Agaain, his speed is what will instantly make him an elite RAS darling for Chris Ballard, but it’s his potential as a defensive chess piece for Lou Anarumo that makes Gushiken a true wildcard for the Colts.
“You aim high, you’re bound to end up somewhere near that. So, I was really shooting for the stars when it came to the 40,” Gushiken said.
Despite the stunning numbers, the safety is still considered a Day 3, Round 6 or 7 pick.
