45 in 45: No.26 Jack Nuismer
Jack Nuismer
Tight End
Senior
6’3 243 Lbs.
Nashville, Tenn.
2012 Season: Coming from Ensworth High School, a football powerhouse in Nashville, Nuismer comes from talented genes. His father was an All-SEC pitcher at Vanderbilt and his uncle is country music star Vince Gill. A walk-on, Nuismer has only seen action in 4 games during his first 4 years at Ole Miss. He has yet to accumulate any stats during his career in Oxford.
Value: The anemic depth at tight end is well documented. Ferbia Allen, Jamal Mosley and HR Greer are all on to greener pastures. The Rebels signed three tight ends and only one of them will be able to play this fall. AJ Jackson failed to qualify, Christian Morgan injured his knee in the spring and Evan Engram will play but is vastly undersized for the SEC.
Despite Nuismer’s lack of on-the-field experience, his size makes him a huge asset in the run game. Hugh Freeze likes athletic tight ends who can block on the edge and downfield and while Nuismer lacks ideal athleticism, a big body who has experience in the system can prove vital. He will see a lot of action in goal line situations and if he can become a viable intermediate range target for Bo Wallace, the Rebels might be able to mask the weakest area on the offense.
