#2 – Auburn Student Body Moment

In 2013, when Rebels went on the road to Auburn, the hype of Marshall Henderson had already began to spread throughout the Southeastern Conference. Throughout several previous SEC road games, Henderson had to endure a lot from the opponent crowd. The Auburn student body section was determined to not make it any easier for Henderson in this game. From the git-go, Auburn fans and students poked fun at Henderson, and shouted obscenities to cause distraction.

Henderson would come up to the free throw line in the final seconds with a tie game, and an attempt to send the Rebels to their best SEC start to a season in school history. Under pressure, he would nail both free throws, ultimately sending the Rebels to 64-62 win over Auburn.

The result would trigger arguably one the best GIFs in sports history. Henderson was caught on camera taunting his jersey at the Auburn student crowd. This sent the students in an outrage, and setting a dear hatred for Henderson amongst other SEC schools.

But, for me, and a lot of Rebel fans can agree, this was one of Henderson’s shining moments to prove that we are not just “Ole Miss”.
