The SEC Network will be launching in a week! If you’re not excited for this launch, and you live in SEC country, then you may need to check your pulse. This new network is expected to be one of the biggest television launches of the year. The network will be a 24/7/365 coverage of SEC sports and news.

In it’s first year of launch, the SEC Network is expected to cover 45 football games (including all 14 teams in the first 4 weeks of the season), 100 men’s basketball games, 60 women’s basketball games, 50 softball games, 75 baseball games, 25 women’s soccer games, and 40 volleyball games. That is a long list of SEC sporting events. What this means is that you’re very rarely going to miss any Ole Miss football, basketball, or baseball games now. At least none of the conference games.

The SEC Network will also host:

The Paul Finebaum Show: A daily four-hour radio show, ESPN Radio’s Paul Finebaum shares compelling opinions on SEC football through a deep knowledge of the conference and interaction with passionate callers that have followed him for years.

SEC Nation: Host Joe Tessitore is joined by analyst Tim Tebow and contributors on a different SEC campus each week for this two-hour traveling pregame show with game previews, highlights, features and the sights and sounds of game day in the SEC.

SEC Storied: A features series from ESPN Films exploring the rich athletic history of the SEC’s recent and more distant past.

The Chucky Mullins story is expected to be one of the first aired on the network.

SEC Rewind: Classic games featuring SEC teams, including past BCS Championship games, past SEC Championship games, and classic regular season and Bowl games. (you can expect this in the offseason of football).

The network has recently announced a deal with DIRECTV bringing the network available to more than 87 million homes across the country when it launches. The network will also be available to AT&T U-Verse, Charter Communications, COX, Dish Network, Time Warner Cable, and Xfinity customers. If your provider is not listed you can still protest for the network to come to your home here. Good luck!

Just recently, ESPN announced custom animations for each of the 14 SEC schools for the new network. I don’t know what they will be used for, my only guess is that it will be similar to the use of ESPNU school logos on the ESPNU Network.

If you’re questioning how authentic these animations will be to the school’s image, ESPN had this statement to say:

Each school worked closely with the network to develop authentic and timeless school IDs, including a 15-second “Quad” ID. All 14 Quad IDs open with an iconic campus image which will then circulate into legendary and current athletic imagery of coaches, players, fans and school tradition. Each ID ends on a virtual SEC Network campus quad that encapsulates the pageantry and passion of the individual school.
