Hotty Toddy Headlines: Tee Shepard’s Injury Results “Doesn’t Look Good”

We’re just two weeks away from the start of the 2014 Ole Miss football season, and we have already received a blow to the roster with injuries. Most recently, Tee Shepard has suffered a toe injury during recent practices. At first, it didn’t seem it could be a serious injury, but the words “possible scar tissue” came into play. Then, things got serious.

In the latest Ole Miss practice report, Hugh Freeze was asked on the status of Shepard and his response will leave a lump in your throat. Here is Freeze’s comments on Shepard after yesterday’s practice:

"“We are getting different opinions, but it doesn’t look good. It is a rare injury that he could try to push through and get fixed after the season. However, there is the chance that scar tissue could form and affect him long term. We certainly think he has a career in football and we want to do everything we can to preserve that career. The final decision has not been made; we are waiting on one final opinion from one of the top doctors that deals with this injury every day, but right not it doesn’t look promising.”"

FUCK!

Freeze did go on to add about the future of the cornerback position without Tee Shepard:

"“Mike (Hilton) will play corner some. He has great football knowledge and can play both huskie and corner. Senquez (Golson), Derrick (Jones), Carlos (Davis) and Cliff (Coleman) will all help us at corner. We think Kendarius Webster is going to be a really good player. We hate that this happened to Tee (Shepard), but we certainly feel better about our depth than we were the last two years.”"

That is a little relief, “but we certainly feel better about our depth than we were the last two years,” Freeze said. However, there is no question that Tee Shepard was one of the highest rated recruits for the Ole Miss Rebels in 2014. Not having Shepard, will be a blow to the Ole Miss secondary, causing setbacks for potential depth at cornerback.

OTHER NEWS:

Ole Miss out on Skal Labissiere – (The Clarion Ledger)
If you haven’t been keeping up with this story, Ole Miss was in the mix to land five-star basketball prospect, Skal Labissiere. It looked as though Ole Miss could have landed Labissiere with Andy Kennedy going as far as giving an assistant coaching job to Labissiere’s guardian (which is perfectly legal by the NCAA rulebook). However, Labissiere diminished any hopes of Rebels landing him. On Tuesday, in front of a group of basketball analyst, he announced his top six schools. We were not one of them.

Maybe, we are mysterious number seven? Doubtful.

PHOTOS: Boise State to wear orange helmets vs. Ole Miss – (CBS Sports)
Here is some irrelevant insightful news. We will beat them with whatever they’re wearing, bring it Boise!

The gaudiness of their look reminds me of something Mississippi State would wear.

Ole Miss lands 2016 wideout from Meridian – (The Clarion Ledger)
Daniel Crowell, a wideout from Meridian, announced his commitment to Ole Miss on Tuesday. He marks the fourth commitment for the Rebels in the 2016 class, and the second wide receiver. If you are wondering about stars on this kid, I can’t find any composite rankings on him. This has a lot to do with development. Here is his 247Sports.com profile. He does have a Hudl profile, you can check it out here. He does have some great moves in his highlight videos.
