Marquis Haynes is named to SEC All-Freshmen Team
By Dave Bevan
Marquis Haynes was one of those recruited players in 2014 that was overlooked by most schools, but not Ole Miss. In the preseason I mentioned this kid had the talent to be successful this season. We felt so highly of him, we named Haynes apart of our preseason 45 most valuable Rebels. After a very successful 2014 freshman season, Haynes has been selected as SEC All-Freshmen Team. He is the only Rebel to be named to this list by the SEC.
Marquis Haynes finished the regular season with 29 total tackles, with eight of them resulting in a loss for 74 yards. Haynes most impressive stat was 7.5 sacks resulting in 72 yards loss. He led the team, and finished the 3rd highest of SEC freshmen in total sacks. Haynes also led the Rebels with eight quarterback hurries. He also produced three forced fumbles and one fumble recovery. Haynes has been a huge asset to the Rebels’ defensive front this season, and will be expected to be a leader next season.
