The basketball competition at the Olympics is one of the most popular events to watch. Most of the fan fare is due to the NBA stars playing for the United States, but there are some stars outside of the U.S. National Team.

The U.S. Team is led by Kevin Durant and Draymond Green this year. This years team does not feature LeBron James, Steph Curry, or the recently retired Kobe Bryant. Despite the lack of the usual star power, the U.S. team is still the odds-on favorite to win the gold medal.

The Venezuelan team features one player that most Ole Miss fans are interested in watching, Anthony Perez. Perez was a forward on the Ole Miss basketball team the past few seasons. He is now a forward for the Venezuelan basketball team in the Rio Olympics.

One of the Ole Miss Olympians, Anthony Perez, should see some playing time for the Venezuelan team tonight. He played for three minutes against the Serbian National Team in a 86-62 loss. Perez had three points in his three minutes of playing time.

Tonight will be the toughest matchup for the Venezuelan’s, as the United States are rolling through the Olympics competition. The U.S. team defeated China 119-62 on Saturday. The United States team had four players with double digits, led by the Golden State Warriors guard Kevin Durant who had 25 points in 22 minutes.

If I was a betting man, I would bet on the United States to have a very good game against the Venezuelan’s.

Watch Perez and the U.S. Olympic team tonight at 5 PM on NBCOlympics.com.
