4. Auburn

Ole Miss and Auburn have only played 40 times, with Auburn leading the series 29-11. However, there have been some very memorable games in this rivalry and the two teams have come to not really like each other.

The tension started when then Ole Miss football coach Tommy Tuberville made his infamous ‘pine box’ statement before bolting to Auburn. Ever since then, Ole Miss fans have held a slight grudge against Auburn and do not particularly care for the Tigers even to this day.

Also, who can forget the game Laquon Treadwell injured his leg, which proved to be the game winning play for the Tigers?

Most memorable games: 1999 Ole Miss 24, Auburn 17

2003 Ole Miss 24, Auburn 20

2014 Auburn 35, Ole Miss 31

Reason for the hate: I think the hate starts and ends with Tommy Tuberville. Ole Miss fans felt betrayed when he went to Auburn after assuring folks in Oxford that he would return. The 1999 win was sweet to Rebel fans everywhere to get back at Tuberville.

However, his return to Oxford resulted in an Auburn win the following year which left a bad taste in Ole Miss football fans’ mouths.
