Ranking the 2016 Ole Miss Football Schedule by Threat Level
By Randy Morgan
5.Georgia Bulldogs | Threat Level: Medium
The Bulldogs from Athens are looking to come into Oxford and take a victory from the Rebels. Georgia signed the other five-star quarterback in 2016, Jacob Eason. But Eason will have some competition if he wants the starting job in his freshman season.
Georgia returns 7 on offense and 6 on defense.
Georgia brings back Greyson Lambert, the former Virginia quarterback and Brice Ramsey at the quarterback position. Eason will have to compete with Lambert for the job, but Ramsey shouldn’t be a factor for Eason.
Eason has an electric arm that can reach 60-yards easy. He struggled in the U.S. Army All-American game in January, but looked serviceable in the UGA Spring game.
The Bulldog backfield will feature Nick Chubb and Sony Michel, if either one of them can get healthy by the Ole Miss game. Chubb has still not been cleared by doctors and is recovering from leg surgery he had to repair torn ligaments. Michel fractured his arm in an ATV accident last month.
If neither are healthy for the game, Brendan Douglas would take over the starting position.
Terry Godwin will be the lead receiver for the Dawgs this season as they try to replace Malcolm Mitchell.
On defense, the Bulldogs lose their top-4 tacklers from last season. Smart is a defensive minded coach, but I would be worried about that defense if I was Georgia.
The Bulldogs defeated Ole Miss the last time they played the Rebels, but that was a Houston Nutt led team and the 2016 Rebels are a lot more talented.
