Austin Allen | Arkansas

For Ole Miss Rebels fans, the graduation of Brandon Allen happened a year too late. He threw for a career-high 442 yards and six touchdown in last year’s memorable game against the Rebels. That devastating loss is one of the key reasons Ole Miss was denied a trip to Atlanta for the SEC Championship game.

But the Razorbacks won’t be without an Allen in the backfield this year. Brandon’s younger brother Austin will be leading Coach Bret Bielema’s team in 2016. The junior has been in Bielema’s system for two years and secured the starting job during Spring practice. His familiarity with the Hog’s system gives him an advantage coming into the 2016 season.

Coach Bielema won’t ask too much from Allen. The Hogs enjoy running the ball and pushing defensive lines around. There is very little doubt that will not change this year. Allen has a strong enough arm to spread it around to his experienced receiver corps. His success will come due to his understanding of the offense.
