Here are just a few observations.
It appears that Rod Taylor has indeed won the left tackle spot for now. This will allow Greg Little some time to get acclimated to the college game speed. Also, Shea Patterson and Jason Pellerin are still neck and neck when it comes to securing up the number two spot at quarterback behind Chad Kelly. We will probably get to see both of them against Wofford in week two.

On defense, John Youngblood has the starting position over Fadol Brown at one of the defensive end positions. This has less to do with talent and more to do with the nagging foot injury Brown has been having to deal with. However, the minute Brown is deemed healthy enough to start he will be the starter. Sophomore Zedrick Woods has reportedly had good Spring and Fall practices. He has parlayed that into an opportunity to be the starter at free safety over junior C.J. Hampton.
Lastly, there is a huge presence of freshmen in the two deep depth chart. There are nine on offense and five on defense. That’s a good indication that the team is continuing to go forward and will have a chance to stay relevant. Let’s hope everyone stays healthy this week and let’s go get that win.
