The curse is over, the Chicago Cubs have won the World Series for the first time since 1908. The Cubs were the best team in baseball all season and have proved it in the playoffs.

Tonight’s game was one for the ages. It had everything. Two teams trying to break championship droughts, rain delays, extra innings, and home runs.

We saw Aroldis Chapman and Andrew Miller struggle for the first time all playoffs, but there was one player for the Cubs who did not struggle, and that was Chris Coghlan.

Coghlan, a former Ole Miss Rebel, pitch-ran for David Ross in the top of ninth inning. Coghlan broke up a double play, which would result in no runs for the Cubs.

The Cleveland Indians also had a former Rebel on their staff in Mickey Callaway. Callaway, now the pitching coach for the Indians, was one of the main reasons the Indians staff was so strong this season.

But with Chris Coghlan winning the World Series, that adds another accomplishment for MLB Rebels.

Former Rebel Lance Lynn is the only other Rebel currently in the league with a ring, and now Coghlan joins him.

The Ole Miss baseball team is hoping to add to their impressive presence in the league with a #1 recruiting class this year after putting multiple players into the majors earlier this year.

Look for MLB Rebels in Boston, Chicago, Cincinnati, and St. Louis next season.
