Former Ole Miss Rebels defensive back Trae Elston has signed on with the Cleveland Browns.

Good news for one former Rebel. The Cleveland Browns have signed defensive back Trae Elston to the team. Elston will get the opportunity to demonstrate his skills on a national stage.

The 5-11, 193-pound Oxford, AL. native was not drafted. However, Elston was originally signed by the New Orleans Saints as an undrafted free agent. After being released by the Saints he spent a few weeks on the Tampa Bay Buccaneer’s practice squad.

Elston is truly missed at Ole Miss. His absence is felt on the defensive side of the ball. While at Ole Miss, he was a four-year starter. He tallied 252 tackles and four interceptions. However, if you add in his four fumble recoveries and the fact that he had 34 passes defended, a sack and a couple of forced fumbles; you can see how much of a hole he left.

The entire Ole Miss fan base is wishing Trae the best. We hope this will be the start of a long NFL career. He has always been a hard worker and an over-achiever in college. Therefore, don’t be surprised if he does the same in the pros.
