Former Ole Miss wide receiver Cody Core showed out in a 12-10 loss against the Houston Texans.

Cody Core is a name that most Ole Miss fans forget when discussing NFL Rebels. While Laquon Treadwell got all of the hype, Cody Core has quietly worked his way up the Bengals depth chart.

Currently behind the injured AJ Green and James Wright, Core is the third WR on the Bengals depth chart as of today.

Ole Miss has a reputation for putting wide receivers in the NFL, and Core is just one of many making the case for Ole Miss as WRU.

Core made his first career reception December 4th against the Philadelphia Eagles. He backed that performance up the next week with a catch against the Cleveland Browns.

Core was targeted a team-high 14 times tonight by Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton. Core caught 8 of those 14 targets for 39 yards.

While Core has yet to catch his first career touchdown pass, the Bengals do have one more game to get him that touchdown.

Cincinnati takes on the Baltimore Ravens next week to close out the season on January 1st.

The Bengals are currently 5-9-1 and have been eliminated from the NFL playoffs.

Core was a 2-star recruit according to 247Sports coming out of high school. He was a member of Hugh Freeze’ first recruiting class at Ole Miss.

Next season could a big one for Core and the Bengals as they look to rebound from a disappointment of a season.
