4-star linebacker Willie Gay out of Starkville HS discussed Ole Miss with Rivals.com while at the Army All-American game.

Ole Miss needs linebackers, desperately. The Rebels picked up a commitment from 4-star LB Breon Dixon on New Years Day, but Ole Miss looks to add another linebacker.

Currently, Ole Miss has Dixon and 3-star LB Josh Clarke committed.

Willie Gay was once committed to Ole Miss but backed off of his commitment after some MSU coaches appeared to get in his ear about the commitment.

While at the Army All-American game in Texas, Gay talked to the Rivals crew about his recruitment.

“Mississippi State, Ole Miss, LSU, and Michigan are my top schools,” Gay said. “I’m going to get developed at all of them. All the teams fit me well, but I’m just looking for the team that feels at home the most.”

It appears that Mississippi State is the team to beat here. They are closest to home for Gay and have a good defensive staff at hand.

Ole Miss is gaining ground on State but will have to compete with the NCAA investigation rumors that get spread by opposing coaches.

Michigan is where Gay would be at if the school was not so far away in my opinion.

LSU appears to be on the outside looking in for Gay, especially now that Ole Miss has hired Bradley Paveto as LB coach.

Gay does have a visit left at LSU and Mississippi State before signing day.

Willie discussed the Ole Miss coaching staff with the crew as well.

“I just really feel like I wasn’t going to get developed with the thing they got going at first,” Gay said. “After they hired Coach (Wesley) McGriff and Coach P (Bradley Dale Peveto) from LSU, then I felt (better) about that.”

As most fans realized, Gay was worried about the ability of the Ole Miss staff to develop him into an NFL linebacker.

Now that Ole Miss has signed McGriff and Paveto to coach the defense, Gay is showing more interest.

Expect this recruitment to go down to national signing day.
