SEC- Basketball Conference?

There is a misconception the SEC is not good at basketball. Many believe that once you get past Kentucky and Florida, the rest of the teams are hit or miss. It’s a belief which has been hard to shake. So, because of this thought, the SEC is not rewarded as many teams in the NCAA Tournament as other conferences.

This year saw five SEC teams in the big dance. Kentucky is always a main stay, however there was Florida, South Carolina, Arkansas and Vanderbilt as well. Ole Miss has been playing as well as any team in the post season. They have won both their games on the road and not at a neutral site.

The SEC has fared very well in the NCAA Tournament. South Carolina knocks out ACC powerhouse Duke in an upset. Arkansas plays number one seed North Carolina to the final seconds. Florida has looked dominant. Kentucky is Kentucky.

The SEC is holding their own during this tournament. Three of the five teams have made it to the Sweet 16. The ACC is supposedly a basketball conference. They only have one team left playing in the NCAA Tournament.

However, until the SEC start getting credit for the talented basketball teams that it possess, teams like Ole Miss will continue to be undervalued. While other conferences are given to much credit for the teams they have.
