#5 Is Shea Really That Good?

Oh yes, he really is just that good and then some! In fact, I’m so confident in his abilities, I predict Shea Patterson shatters the Ole Miss football record books. Shea was thrust into the fire of SEC play last season when Chad Kelly went down with a season and college career ending knee injury.

Of course, we saw what Shea was capable of despite having little help from an uninspired supporting cast. Shea shined in his first game. Against TAMU he engineered a comeback drive to set up a Gary Wunderlich game-winning FG. Shea Patterson had arrived.

In the Grove Bowl, Shea would once again show why he was the #1 recruit for Ole Miss in the 2015 class. Shea put on a clinic among SEC QBs in the first spring game weekend. He easily surpassed all others by putting up huge numbers in the new Phil Longo offense.

On the day, Shea would go 21 of 30 for an impressive 371 yards and 2 TDs. Of course, Shea has a supporting cast which consist of the best WR corp in the SEC. Did I mention, like Shea, they are all sophomores? Yes, Shea Patterson is legit and he has a ‘nasty’ offense to play in.

With physical receivers Van Jefferson, AJ Brown and DK Metcalf, Shea will have plenty of reliable targets. Of course, Longo has a powerful offense which he and Hugh Freeze both believe will translate well onto the next level. In comparison against the other SEC teams in action for spring games, it certainly seemed to work.
