Summer Questions: What Player Are We Excited To See?

The 2017 football season isn’t going to lead to a bowl at the end of the year. However, there are players we look forward to seeing develop. The only saving grace of last year’s terrible year was the fact that we got to see many of our young guys gain valuable experience.

Coach Freeze and his staff are hoping these guys can come into the 2017 season ready to make valuable contributions. A few of them showed us what they are capable of doing. Players like Jalen Julius and Jaylon Jones demonstrated great promise.

However, there is one player we can’t wait to see back on the field.

Benito Jones

Even though there are a couple of questions about the team, there is a lot of talent returning this year. However, there may not be any player more talented Benito Jones. I know the offense is filled with great playmakers. Also, there are many good players on the defensive side. That being said, Jones checks all the boxes for a dominate defensive tackle. He’s powerful, he’s athletic and he’s quick. He could end up being the best player of that class.

Jones only started four games last year and now will move up to full-time starter. I look for him to show why many considered him a five-star talent. Last year he had four and a half tackles for a loss and four QBHs. I believe his play will immediately improve our rushing defense. I see him as an all SEC performer in the middle of that Rebel D-line.
