Despite negative attention evolving from the NCAA case against Ole Miss football, recruiting is going great. Especially when most of it is coming from our SEC opponents backyards. Today Ole Miss football recruiting did it once again.

Coach Hugh Freeze and Ole Miss football have been recruiting hard. They’ve recruited across state lines especially hard. The Rebels would get their third commitment from the state of Alabama as they picked up a verbal commitment from Birmingham native Jonathan Hess.

Vestavia Hills HS standout Jonathan Hess has received over 20 DI offers from schools which include Syracuse, Memphis and Vandy. Rated a 3-star athlete by Scout.com, Hess has the ability to play numerous positions. Earlier this month Hess worked out with LBs at a Miss State camp. Although many had expected Hess to choose MSU should they offer, Hess chose Ole Miss.

This young man is a baller plain and simple and really can play anywhere. With his height and speed he can be menacing anywhere on the field.

Hess literally has the ability and skill to play in the secondary however he has the size to play linebacker or defensive end. When you tag a player as an athlete this is the guy right here you think of. He can play.

The Rebels first offered Hess in early June while he attended camp at Ole Miss. As reported by Yancy Porter of OMSpirit, Hess was liked well enough by Ole Miss coaches to get an offer on the spot.

Obviously LB coach Dale Peveto and Coach Wesley McGriff were very impressed and for good reason. Per OMSpirit,

"“They like me at linebacker and even said I could keep growing and put my hand in the dirt one day (laugh). I feel great about linebacker. I think I would grow into more of a linebacker than safety.” ~Jonathan Hess"
