Ole Miss Rebels Football

This senior class has seen some great times and some rough times in the Rebels uniform. They were there for the embarrassment of the TCU 42-3 shellacking during the 2015 Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl. However in juxtaposition, they also celebrated in New Orleans as the Rebels brought home the Sugar Bowl with a 48-20 win over Oklahoma State.

Ole Miss has a few key seniors on this team. Some of which would have been understandable choices for the honor. Gary Wunderlich will be one of the best kickers in the conference, if not the nation. DeMarquis Gates at linebacker is consistency. Gates has been the Rebels leading tackler for the past two seasons.

There are great Rebel teammates in this senior class. Players like Markell Pack who has been a consistent player while other receivers get the press and the credit. Jordan Wilkins was on his way to having an anticipated breakout season last year but had to miss the entire year. His talent is undeniable.

However, the winner Is…

Marquis Haynes

He is the most underrated defensive lineman in the country. However, Rebels fan know how valuable this speed rusher is. Marquis Haynes is only two and a half sacks away from replacing Greg Hardy as Ole Miss’ all-time modern-day record holder in sacks. He is simply an offensive tackles nightmare.

Haynes is listed as a preseason candidate for the Bednarik Award. This award recognizes the best defensive player in the country. We don’t need any award to tell us what our eyes have already shown us. Regardless, he is definitely the best Rebel in his class. We are looking forward to one last ride with this senior.
