Class of 2019

The junior class is filled with developed high school talent and junior college transfers. The high school talent has played important roles on the Rebel team. The depth on this Ole Miss football team was built using this junior class. They provided the needed talent to allow Coach Hugh Freeze to run his offense with success.

The junior college transfers look to have an immediate impact on this Rebels’ team. Defensive end Markel Winters looks to get into the rotation as a way to help the defensive side of the ball. Although, the most exciting junior college transfer may be Jordan Ta’amu. His play during the Grove Bowl was encouraging.

Several players look to have a little more playing time this year. Wide receiver DeMarkus Lodge will get to see the field more. DE Victor Evans can be a key to the defense. However, this junior class also contained a few important parts to the offensive line as well. Jordan Sims and Sean Rawlings will play key roles on this team this year.

Actually, my pick for best junior for the Rebels is an offensive lineman.

Javon Patterson

If there is ever a player poised to have a great season, it’s Javon Patterson. Watching Patterson’s continued growth over the past two years has been exciting. He started every game last year. His presence at the offensive guard position will be key to keeping the offensive side of the ball moving well.

His dominance on the left side of the line right beside sophomore tackle Greg Little will give quarterback Shea Patterson the time he needs to keep things rolling. He will be the leader to this much improved line. Look for All-SEC type performances all year from J.P.
