Ole Miss football and Hugh Freeze may be written off for the season, however if the SEC Media Days takeover is any indication of what’s to come, look out SEC!

With the release of Nuttgate last Wednesday there were a number of Ole Miss football fans who were extremely worried. Of course, it didn’t take long for the vultures to begin to circle in Hoover. Media members were already licking their chops to have a chance to rip into Coach Hugh Freeze.

The event looked to begin just a little sketchy for Freeze and Ole Miss football as the morning began. The Nuttgate lawsuit was the hot topic for the SEC Network crew Thursday morning way before Huge Freeze had even made to the table with Pawl and Co. The SECN crew had made it obvious the Nuttgate issue would be the question of the day for Freeze. However, once he took the podium the stage and the SEC Media Days event belonged to him.

Public Perception Matters

The overwhelming opinion from the media and SEC fans from all schools, Ole Miss may be screwed but Hugh Freeze is the head coach and Ole Miss administration obviously has his back.

Freeze took control of the last day and made an immediate impact with his attitude and confidence. Of course, he addressed the Nuttgate issue as best he could give as the fact there is an active lawsuit underway.

However, public opinion of the Nuttgate lawsuit seemed to help Ole Miss and head coach Hugh Freeze more than hurt. Most people believed the timing of the release of the lawsuit was a butt-move attempt at sabotaging the Rebels SEC Media Days event. This OHT contributor agrees.

Of course, if it weren’t already enough to have the best coach in Mississippi take control of the event without kissing Sankey’s butt and talking about walk-out music, Freeze had back-up there.

Rebels Make Impressions

Rebel players Shea Patterson, Javon Patterson, and Breeland Speaks were all media and fan favorites for the day. Several opposition media members even commented on the trio being the best three players on the schedule after the event besides their school’s three of course.

It’s no big secret everybody wanted Freeze to bomb last Thursday. The TSBU gossip mongers had even passed around the rumors Freeze would resign at the podium. SMH. Of course, after Freeze took control the MOOU media went silent so they could come up with the next narrative.

Freeze isn’t worried. He has the support of the Ole Miss administration and the Ole Miss football fans. He also has the support of the media with the exception of a few national contributors who have a lot of problems of their own right now. Good luck Pat Forde, haha.

Next: The Nuttgate Fiasco...

Thanks Coach Hugh Freeze for enduring all you have when you really didn’t have to. I’ll take his performance as Ole Miss head coach and SEC Media Days master over anybody! Hotty Toddy!
