4. Matt Luke

Matt is the interim coach, so he should have a season long audition.

Unfortunately for Matt, he is probably the least likely to get the job. With this being said, he has absolutely nothing to lose.

Say he can’t win games this year and struggles recruiting, nobody would blame him. It would be passed off as an impossible situation.

However, if he wins and recruits at a decent rate, things will get interesting. Say he wins 8 games. He will have put himself in a great situation. Him succeeding isn’t a wild idea, the players love him. He would find a head coaching job somewhere, even if Ole Miss passed him over.

Another note of importance, he is not mentioned in either NOA, so that helps his cause.

Matt Luke has been in Oxford for years. He can pitch being an Ole Miss guy and well some people put way too much value in that meaningless phrase.

Also, let us be honest Ed Orgeron was not the favorite to land the LSU gig, until he was. Same with Clay Helton at USC. Never count out a well liked interim coach, they quickly become fan favorites as well.e
