The more I listen to Matt Luke the more I like having him here to get us moving forward. Of course, he comes from and Ole Miss football family. Also, as I’ve stated before, he was absolutely the best choice for the interim status which was available within the program.

I’m really excited to see what Luke does for the team this upcoming season especially with coach Phil Longo bringing his even faster-paced offense to Oxford. I know Matt Luke is excited about this season and I really like that from a fan standpoint.

Coach Luke is close to this team and it’s apparent in his own excitement. Sure, getting the opportunity to be head coach of your Alma mater is always special. To do it with this team could very well extend his tenure as head coach and cease-fire any coaching search from Vitter and Bjork.

Personally I like what I’ve seen so far from this young Rebel head coach and his press conference Wednesday simply instilled that even further. He addressed the issues of the Webster and Bing-Dukes arrests immediately which swift justice. They will both face a one game suspension in the South Alabama season opener. They will also be facing community service.

Fears Put To Rest

The one worry I had about Luke as a head coach was he is a product of an offensive lineman mentality. Although I was worried we might see a more run-oriented game with little focus on fast, it was quickly squashed by coach Luke. His focus is clearly allowing Longo to run his super-fast offense with the weapons we have on that side of the ball. I believe we have the best offensive talent in the SEC and this season will prove it. Good luck this season head coach Matt Luke.
